What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a Traditional
Chinese Medicine form of health care that is over 3000 years old. Acupuncture promotes good health by balancing the flow of
energy or "qi" and blood throughout the body. It involves the stimulation of specific anatomical points on
the body by the insertion of very fine, single use, sterile, disposable needles. Most people feel no pain at all, and relax
into a pleasant, restful state during the acupuncture sessions.
How many Acupuncture treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments depends
on the seriousness and length of the problem and the health of the individual. Some will feel results during the first treatment.
Others may gradually experience relief in stages, within two to three sessions, or up to several weeks, months, or more. Acute
conditions usually resolve more quickly than chronic ones.
How should I prepare for an Acupuncture treatment?
- Please arrive early
to fill out the health intake forms.
- Wear loose,
comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points.
- Be
sure you have eaten a light meal about an hour before your treatment.
- Between visits, pay attention to any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of pain, or
changes in the frequency and type of problems.
What
does Tui Na mean?
Tui Na means "push-pull" in Chinese. It is a 2000 year-old Traditional Chinese Medicine style of
medical massage. Physically it's a series of techniques that involves kneading, rolling, pressing, tapping, rubbing and
brushing done with the hands, fingertips, and knuckles. Tui Na massage techniques range from light brushing to deep tissue
bodywork. Tui Na removes blockages along the acupuncture channels of the body, and stimulates the flow of energy (qi) and
blood throughout the body. It is both relaxing and energizing.
Is "Qi" a type of energy?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine,
Qi is considered to be the underlying life force that animates everything in existence. It can be thought of as subtle energy
which flows along specific pathways (acupuncture meridians or channels) in the body. When Qi moves evenly throughout the body,
a person experiences good health. Pain and disease result when the flow of Qi becomes blocked. Stimulation of the acupuncture
points removes blockages along the acupuncture channels and establishes a balanced flow of Qi.
What does Moxa do?
Moxibustion is a Traditional
Chinese Medicine therapy using Moxa (mugwort herb) to warm and stimulate acupuncture points. Dried mugwort is formed into
sticks, cones or small grains, and burned either on the acupuncture needles, or near the skin, to enhance circulation and
relieve pain.

| Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation |
What is Microcurrent Therapy?
Microcurrent Therapy is very subtle electrical stimulation applied to
the muscle tissue. It promotes tissue healing and reduces pain and swelling. It also improves facial muscle tone, skin texture
and color, relieves eye tension, and diminishes under-eye puffiness. The only sensation that is felt is the gentle gliding
of moistened Q-tips along the skin. The microcurrent facial rejuvenation treatments include a relaxing facial massage and
nourishing facial mask. During this restful series of 10-20 treatments, key acupuncture points on the face are stimulated. This helps balance the flow of energy or
qi along the length of the acupuncture channels from head to foot, benefiting the entire body as well as the face. As an option
during facial session, acupuncture can be applied at specific points on the body to enhance the health of the face and eyes.
